In video production 2 we were supposed to work as a class in order to recreated a play call Zoot suit. Knowing the process that it takes to develop a movie or play it’s value in my future because knowing those skills would give me more job opportunities. The project was to work as a class and create a short version of Zoot Suit. As well to act in it and direct the play. When we finish recording we were expected to edit the clips and combine it together as one.
Recreating Zoot Suit became hard process. First we choose the scenes we thought were the most important part of the play. Then we shorten the script in order for us to be able to act it out. The last thing was to choose who we would play and memorizing the lines needed. I learned that the easiest is memorizing the script but acting it out is hard. Especially since you aren’t the only one that are in the scene. If you are someone else screwed up then we would have to re shoot it all over. It became frustrating once we had to re shoot it since all we wanted was to be able to finish it. Also I learned that in order to finish the play we had to work together and trust each other that we were doing the best we could do. When it was time to edit, we divided the group between us and then we put all the clips together and made a 30 minute video. The video was good but when we combine them all together that was when it was the difficult part since the audio weren't the same. As well when I saw our video on the big screen I could see all of my errors and what I could improve on.
The two SLO that I demonstrated throughout this project are thinking critically and self director learned. I demonstrated thinking critically because in some scene the setting wasn't right meaning that we had to improvise the lines and if you forget it then you’ll just have to go with the flow. I demonstrated self directed learner because in order to finish the film we had to communicate to each other. That was the most difficult part because some of us had different ideas on how to portray the play and how fast we should move. As well it became difficult when someone forgot their lines or cloth. The SLO that I could have improved is applying technological skills for the 21st century because I forgot how to use a camera. If my setting weren’t right then we would have had to re shoot all over again and the actors wouldn’t be in the mood to since they had to re shoot the same scene many times.
Two of the most important things I have learned in this was to communicate efficiently and to collaborate with my classmates. Since without those two skills we wouldn't be able to finish shooting the play. These skills are valuable because it demonstrates the importance of teamwork and how collaborating efficiently with each other can make us achieve great things.
