The Kite Runner
In this class I learned about the pros and cons of therapeutic and reproductive cloning.Cloning is valuable in my future because more there would be more investigation on it. The project was to write a letter to the senator in order to persuade her to vote or not to vote to allow further research on cloning.
For this assignment I had to write a formal letter to the senator about cloning. Mr. Licata gave us a prompt and I had to answered it as well giving a counterargument. I had to explain her my position on cloning while giving her evidence. In the letter head I included the senator and my basic information. The process I went through to write the letter was when we watch a documentary on Dolly the sheep. Afterwards we watch a movie called Gattaca, which was a film made to introduce the idea of a world where cloning babies is a possibility. It tells me that throughout the process of learning about cloning I changed my position in cloning quite often.
In this artifact I had to think critically and creatively of what where the cause and effect of allowing more research in cloning to continue. Finding out the way it would affect our society by reading articles and annotating the key events. Discovering new vocabularies and knowing their definition. Also I apply technological skills for the 21st century by completing the assignment and turning it in on google classroom. I could have improve in myself directed learner by checking my grammar.
Two of the most important thing I learned was that cloning is actually happening and that I should spend more time in my paragraphs so it wouldn’t sound confusing. If I wanted to write a letter in the future I could be able to do it without something rude.
During the class of English 3, the learning objective are to write an essay for The Kite Runner book and show that we understand the process of a hero journey. This is valuable to my future because when someone asks me what’s a hero journey I would be able to answer the question.
The assignment was about understanding a hero journey. The process I went through was reading The Kite Runner, analyzing Amir, the main character, journey and how his journey fit the hero journey. Throughout the process listed above I have learned that even a coward is able to become a hero if they decide to change. As well that even though if you start off as a bad person there’s still hope for you as long that you choose the right path.
The two school wide learning outcomes I demonstrated with this artifact are thinking critically and creatively and applying technological skills for 21st century. I have demonstrated thinking critically and creatively because the hero journey is about your ideas on what the hero journey is and where each event goes on. I applied technological skills for the 21st century by doing additional research, using google docs to do my assignment and turning it in on google classroom. I could have improved on self directed learning because my essay was done at the last minute and I need to be able to manage my time properly.
Overall the most important thing I learned in this class was that everyone can have their own hero journey as long as you believe in it. This skills I have learned in this class would help me in the future if there’s ever a need for me to write an essay of the hero journey.
