In my English 4 class, we started of by completing a packet about what we would be doing after high school. The packet was made in order to prepare for writing our personal statements. Some of the questions were answered since I had to think way back and see which moments I’m I most proud of. The steps I took was doing some research on what university I would like to apply and as well thinking about my career. I made sure that the career that I choose is something that I’m passionate about.
The two SLO I demonstrated where using technology in the 21st century and thinking critically and creative. I used 21 technology in order to do my research to see which universities I would like to go. As well I used google docs to help me write down my personal statement and to seek the help of my classmates to make it better. I had to think critically because I needed to be honest and think of how I wanted the universities to see me as. My weakest SLO was representing myself and community because I wasn’t able to write anything about how I helped out my community.
What I have learned from this project is that I need to think really hard about the way that I have helped in my community. Since it doesn’t matter how hard working I am I still need to show how I have helped out. In order to follow through, I have thought about asking my community how I can give back to them.
Beast Battle 2020
Working together is a key factor in life. In any field you plan on going you’ll have to work collaboratively with someone. In 2020 the senior class will judge a beast battle. We were supposed to be able to be unbiased and work in a team in order to choose the best project. We judge our undergraduates' projects.
For the first round I was given 3 projects in which I needed to judge them individually. At first it was hard because I knew that whatever I said would affect them. As well, I needed to manage my time and make sure that I gave all the projects the same amount of time. After the first round was over we moved to the second round where we were put into a team of 3 in order to decide our top 3. We shared our projects that were given to us and what we thought about it. As we were sharing our ideas we went to the posters and read them to see what they were about. We looked at their logo, name, and the images/sketch that they offered us about their products. The third round was based on choosing the best design.
At the beginning of the day I felt pressured and anxious. SInce we held the power of deciding who would earn cash money. Throughout the day it became more and more stressful because we were only offered limited time in order to finish reading our projects that were assigned to us. I felt even more stress since if the team didn’t have all of their links then we had to go all over the place in order to find them. I feel that I could have analyzed the projects better since I was in a rush. I wasn’t able to analyze them as much as I would wish.
To conclude I learn that holding that much responsibility is stressful, especially if you aren’t prepared for it. As well as working in a team and giving them information about the project as clearly as possible is very important because they could make a better decision.
